JAPAN, Satsuma, Meiji period, 19th century Earthenware bowl with polychrome and gold decoration of kiku flowers on the outside, and a myriad of cranes in flight on the inside. Very small chips to the lip and heel; broken and glued with a finely executed restoration. Height: 7.4 cm; Diameter: 11.5 cm. This type of decoration shows extraordinary dexterity, and is extremely rare.
