Magnificent KAZAK-SEVAN carpet (Caucasus - Armenia), late 19th century Dimensions : 252 x 173cm. Technical features : Wool velvet on wool foundation. A brick field decorated with animals, trees of life and small symbols, supports a polychrome polychrome cruciform shield (church outline, angel, cross...). The highlight is ivory decorated with hooks and multicolored Kotchaks (ram's horns). As for the central medallion features an ivory heart with hourglass, Medes star and sun wheel surrounded by inner and outer Kotchaks. The whole is set against a celadon green background featuring animals, trophies, stars and hourglasses. The two borders are ivory with anthracite checkers, and the main Prussian blue border blue border features oak leaves and multicolored chalices.
