KARATCHOFF carpet (Caucasus-Armenia), late 19th century Dimensions: 213 x 153cm. Technical features: wool velvet on wool foundation. An emerald-green field with ivory planted and hooked boxes, various entomological shapes entomological forms, deer and flowers, supporting an octagonal ivory octagonal ivory medallion, crocheted in brick, adorned with stylized entomological forms entomic forms. The brick main border with geometric plant garlands is flanked flanked by two two-tone sawtooth counter-borders. A fine example of Caucasian craftsmanship (minor maintenance work).
