KASHGAI carpet (Persia), late 19th century Dimensions: 378 x 163cm. Technical features: Wool velvet on wool foundation. A navy field hosts a sowing of stylized, polychrome floral compositions, forming cruciform floral bouquets, interspersed with naive birds. Two royal blue royal blue borders enclose the main old-gold border, all three with garlands of geometrical geometric flowers in polychrome.
