Large planter on pedestal in bronze with double black and gi - Lot 266
Large planter on pedestal in bronze with double black and gilt patina. The body is centered on an oval medallion depicting a battle scene and on a coat of arms featuring an eagle with outstretched wings, flanked by a lion and a horse and crowned with a marquis's crown. The two medallions are held by two draped men with knotted hands. The neck is decorated with a frieze of faun heads, alternating with bunches of fruit. The handles are richly decorated with intertwined snakes underlined by a winged lion's head. The foot is decorated with rams' heads, underlined by fluting, friezes of women's and men's heads and friezes of leaves. Bronze interior. Griotte red marble base. Late 19th, early 20th century, Renaissance style. Height: 64cm; Width: 79cm; Depth: 43cm
