Cameo on three-layered agate depicting Apollo Citharedes. Roman art. 35 x 20 mm. (A few chips) Apollo, son of Zeus and Leto, was considered the god of song, music and poetry, and was frequently depicted accompanied by his lyre. The same subject appears on a cornelian from the Florence museum.
