FRANCE, XVIIth century, probably the MAINE region Wooden sculpture with traces of polychromy and gilding representing the Virgin and Child. The Virgin presents from the front, sitting on her left arm, the Child Jesus blessing with her right hand. Draped in a large mantle with wide and deep pleats, the Virgin is dressed in a high-waisted dress held by a belt. The fingers of the right hand of the Child Jesus are missing, the left hand of the Virgin is probably later, an old restoration at the back of the head of the Virgin could conceal a reserve reliquary. Height : 59 cm.
