An important violin-shaped sconce in Boulle marquetry of tortoiseshell and brass. Rich ornamentation of gilded chased bronzes on the theme of the venerie representing a killing of a wild boar, a stag attacked by dogs, topped by a bellman blowing his hunting horn. The legs are arched with dogs and foliage. The gilt bronze dial with enamelled cartouches with Roman numerals for the hours and Arabic for the minutes. Napoleon III period. Height: 104cm. Width: 44cm. Depth: 20cm. (Accidents and missing).
