Triptych representing Our Lady of the Source of Life. The central panel describes the miracle of the miraculous spring located near the Golden Gate of Constantinople where the Mother of God, in a vision, showed the sick and the poor the way to the dispensing spring of Salvation and Eternal Life. The Virgin assisted by two angels appears in the upper part of the chalice-shaped spring. On the right of the cross-shaped basin, patriarchs, metropolitans, bishops and religious are standing; on the left, kings and soldiers. At the foot of the basin, sick people are being sprinkled with the miraculous water; on the left, a man stands with his hands raised in acclamation before the accomplished miracle of a cure. On the left side: St. Nicholas, St. Eleuterius, St. George and St. Anthony, on the right side a holy person, St. Paraskeva, St. Demetrius. Inscription and date 1831. A few chips and a small lifting of paint in the lower left. GREECE early 19th century. 43cm x 48cm. (Hinge broken)
