Note: Henri VIAN, a bronzemaker based on rue de Thorigny in Paris (the Hôtel Salé, now the Musée Picasso, from which he saved some of the decor), specialized in the production of furniture bronzes, ornamental vases and mounted objects. He took part in the 1878 and 1889 World's Fairs in the "Bronzes d'art, fontes d'art diverses, ferronneries d'art, métaux repoussés" class. The success of his company enabled him to build up a solid collection of paintings, which was sold at auction in 1919. He is Boris Vian's grandfather.
